Due to their respective families’ economic situation, the assisted preschoolers might not be getting the proper nutrition children their age need. To attend to this, Alay Pag-asa conducts daily feeding activity where the children are served with nutritious food during their recess. Deworming was done before the start of the activity to ensure that their bodies absorb the food’s nutrients.

Thirty-four (34) of the 100 pupils in SY 2006-2007 and sixty-one (61) of the 150 in the following school year were found to be malnourished during the annual medical consultation done in coordination with the Barangay Malamig Health Center. To address their health issue, Alay Pag-asa partnered with HAPAG-ASA, a non-government organization under Pondo ng Bayan Foundation. HAPAG-ASA provides vitameal, a vitamin supplement which will be added to the food of the malnourished children.

Mothers of the assisted preschoolers do their share by alternating in cooking their children’s meals.
